Grindhouse Coffee + Cult Cinema takes over the Terrifying Trails “Big Scream” video screen on Friday nights! Plus… there’s coffee!
What is The Grindhouse
When we find our official location we will be a coffee shop and micro cinema with the goal of bringing forgotten wonders and modern phenomena to the big(ish) screen. To remind the world, or at least Long Island, that there is more to film than big budget spectacles. We aim to screen overlooked films, offbeat gems, local filmmakers, underseen masterpieces, and mind-melting oddities lost in the era of streaming. You’ll be able to join us daily for exceptional coffee and a constant projection of psychotronic cinema… In the meantime you can join us at any of our pop-up events. check us out at www.thegrindhousecult.com
Why The Grindhouse
The term “grindhouse” comes from the run-down 42nd Street theaters of 1970s New York. Cheap, lurid, and low-budget films played day and night on those screens. Known for their audacious themes, explicit violence, and sensationalist nature, grindhouse movies offered an alternative to mainstream Hollywood. Add in the obvious connection to coffee grinds, and we have The Grindhouse… A little haven for coffee lovers and film lovers alike.

Come and hang out with members of Ghoul A GoGo, another of our favorite local guests from I-CON’s past!

This year, we’ve landed at Belmont Lake State Park (Exit 38 on Southern State Parkway) on July 12th (a Sunday). I-CON is making sure to secure a date and a place early enough to start getting the word out! We’ve already got a few surprises in store for this year’s gathering, but we’ve got to keep to keep all of that wraps for now. Trust us… you don’t want to miss out on this year! They’ll be more details to come as we get closer. But for now… SAVE THE DATE!
I-Con welcomes Edward J. McFadden III ( http://www.edwardmcfadden.com/ ). Edward J. McFadden III is a prolific author with more than thirty-five published novels spanning the thriller, horror, science fiction, crime, and adventure genres. His recent novels include: Crypsis, Howler, Purgatory Beach, and Time’s Claws. Several of his titles—TRAGIC, Wolves of the Sea, Terror Peak, Crimson Falls, Drop Off, Shadow of the Abyss, and The Breach have earned Amazon #1 Best Seller tags.
Renowned author F. Paul Wilson praised Terror Peak, stating “Terror Peak pits you against not only murderous creatures lurking in the snows, but a hostile environment so real you’ll come away with frostbite. A triumph of terror.”
Ed lives on Long Island with his wife, Dawn, their daughter, Samantha, and their cats, Snoop and Skittles.

Come hang out with legendary author John Peel at the I-CON BBQ! An I-CON guest favorite, John has written many novels and stories in the universes of Doctor Who, Star Trek, as well as for the Outer Limits and much more; including creating several series of his own, “Diadem”, “2099” and “Dragonhome”!

Let’s hang out and bring back some of those good ol’ I-CON vibes of a bygone era!
We’re about to embark on a new journey, not just a regeneration of the old, but something new; and little different. We’re excited to talk with our friends and fans about it. We even changed our logo from a dragon to a phoenix, symbolic to say the least!
But we’re still I-CON at heart, and this is our re-launch party… so we gotta have some guests (barring any last minute cancellations of course)! Come chat with authors Patrick Thomas and Keith R.A. DeCandido, along with local artist David O. Miller. Of course, costumes are welcome! We’ll also have gaming, food, and raffles, and fun for the kids. We’ll have some other surprises, too… Hope to see you all there! We’ve missed ya!
