John True is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolution at Stony Brook University. He has been at SBU since 2001. He received his B.S. from the University of Rochester in 1989 and his Ph.D. in Zoology from Duke University in 1995. Dr. True is an evolutionary geneticist using the Drosophila fruit fly model system to study the developmental genetics of adaptation and speciation (the process by which new species are formed). He is the author of over 20 papers in scientific journals and is currently working on a book on insect pigmentation. Dr. True has been a science fiction fan all his life. His main interests in SF include cyberpunk and treatments of biology and biotechnology in SF stories.
