Information

For those seeking general information about I-CON 26, we've tried to compile it all into one central location. Here you can find:

Open Positions for I-CON 26:

Ongoing Performances

(Performances Group)

  • Track Description: This track is responsible for various performances throughout the convention. It books Guests including musicians, dancers, and other stage acts such as the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and also manages panels featuring the performers and on subjects related to the performing arts. Responsibilities of the Track Leaders involve booking the Guests, scheduling the performances, creating and scheduling panels and assigning panelists, and coordinating between the performers and the Performances Technical Track Leader to accomodate any sound, lighting and other equipment needs for the performances.

  • Current Need: The Current Track Leader is now based out-of-state, and cannot easily visit Long Island to handle paperwork. She can continue to handle many of the Track Leader's responsibilities during preparation, but she needs a Co-Track Leader who is on Long Island and can handle paperwork and incoming mail. The possibility also exists that her responsibilities where she is may prevent her from travelling to attend the convention, so the incoming Co-Track Leader may need to take primary responsibility for managing the performers and performances on-site during the convention.

Performances Technical

(Performances Group)

  • Track Description: This track is responsible for managing sound, lighting, and backstage logistics for Ongoing Performances, the Cabaret, and some events run by Anime Live Programs. The Track Leader is responsible for recruiting and coordinating a crew of sound and lighting technicians, and may also need to research appropriate sound and lighting equipment and arrange for its rental, if the venue which these events get scheduled into does not have appropriate equipment in-built. The technical crew may also be called upon to assist the Staff of the other tracks in crowd direction at the beginning and end of large performances and with cleanup after the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

  • Current Need: A Track Leader with experience managing sound, lighting and backstage, and a competent crew.

Assistant Director of Programming for Performances

  • Group Description: The Performances Group is one of the seven major Programming groups. It consists of six Tracks: Ongoing Performances, Filk, the Cabaret, the Masquerade, the Charity Auction and Performances Technical. The first five are responsible for presenting programming consisting of and related to the Performing Arts within the context of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and the general Fandom community which is represented in I-CON's attendance. The sixth track is responsible for technical and logistic support for the other five.

  • Assistant Director Responsibility: The main responsibility of an Assistant Director of Programming is to supervise and coordinate the tracks in his or her Group. This involves keeping in communication with each Track Leader, assisting and mentoring them as needed, encouraging them to schedule exciting and innovative programming, and encouraging them to meet deadlines. The AD is also responsible for keeping the Director of Programming and the Event Coordinator appraised of the status of the tracks in their group, for recruiting and training new Track Leaders, and for assisting their Track Leaders on-site during the convention.

  • Current Need: An Assistant Director is needed to manage the Performances tracks and to spearhead recruitment for the open Track Leader positions in the Performances Group.
