Herb Beas
Game Developer and Author

Born, raised, and still residing in Connecticut with his wife of five years, Rebecca (“Beckie”) Beas, Herbert A. Beas II is a long-time player of pencil-and-paper role-playing games from Dungeons and Dragons to Vampire: the Masquerade. Long hooked on the BattleTech tabletop war game franchise (and the MechWarrior role-playing game), Herb has been writing for both since 1997, with his debut in BattleTech Field Manual: Crusader Clans. Since then, he has contributed to (or written entirely) almost thirty sourcebooks, rulebooks, and scenario books set in the Classic BattleTech universe, as well as a handful of short fiction for the same universe, published on the game line’s official BattleCorps fiction site (www.battlecorps.com).

Rising to the role of Classic BattleTech’s assistant line developer (and junior continuity editor) after the game line’s move from FASA to Fanpro, Herb has also worked alongside the folks at WizKids on their Mage Knight and MechWarrior: Dark Age game lines, while also contributing to other fantasy and sci-fi game settings, including Reaper Miniatures’ CAV wargame, and Fast Forward’s Treasure Quests fantasy line.

Last year (2007), Herb was named as the latest Line Developer for Classic BattleTech amid the game’s move to a new company (Catalyst Game Labs)—and has been hopelessly buried with work ever since!

Beckie Beas, loving supportive wife of line developer Herb Beas. Beckie has had an interest in the occult for most of her life and enjoys talking about Aerosmith, Harry Potter and how much she loves Herb.
