Charity Auction

We are pleased to announce that the beneficiary of the I-CON 27 Charity Auction is ISLAND HARVEST.

Island Harvest is the bridge between those who have surplus food and those who need it. Founded in 1992, their staff and volunteers "rescue" good surplus food from over 600 retailers and wholesalers. Then, they deliver it, free of charge, to their network of 440+ soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, Head Start programs, senior and community centers and other places where those who need it can get it across Long Island.

In support of their mission, they conduct educational programs to inform the public about the insidious but often unrecognized problem of hunger here and how individuals, businesses and schools can make a difference. Since those early days Island Harvest has grown to become the third largest food rescue organization in the United States. They now rescue and deliver 7 million pounds of food per year supplementing about 5.4 million meals. Recently they have developed new programs to attack hunger in targeted and strategic ways. These include The Kids Alliance - Weekend food to Go Program which helps schoolchildren who depend on school meal programs, and the Bridging the Educational Divide workshop series which works with the staff and volunteers of the member food programs to help their clients become more self-sufficient. The charity will benefit from the proceeds of the Charity Auction and we ask that you attend and be most generous. They will also have a table in the dealers room where you can stop by and make donations.

Island Harvest feeds the body.... I-Con feeds the mind! Both working towards a better future!
