"For outstanding contributions to the Genre of Science Fiction"
ICON Science Fiction Inc. is proud to announce that the recipient of the prestigious Gallun Award for I-CON 27 will be the
renowned Ray Bradbury.
Mr Bradbury will be accepting the award (presented via Harlan Ellison) via conference call
I-CON 27 will be a very special event for our track as it marks the return of Harlan Ellison.
One of the most popular guests in ICON's history, Mr. Ellison can be counted on to be witty, brilliant and
confrontational. His work has been recognized by virtually every writing award and we are thrilled to welcome him back.
Watch our website for some very special programming honoring him.
We are also delighted to welcome Charlaine Harris, Debra Doyle, Elizabeth Bear and
Jeff and Ann VanderMeer. Ms. Harris puts strange and wonderful spins on the traditional
mystery and occult genres with popular characters like Sookie Stackhouse and Aurora Teagarden. Two-time World Fantasy
Award winner Jeff VanderMeer is a writer, publisher, editor and lecturer; Ann VanderMeer,
well known editor and anthologist is currently the editor of Weird Tales magazine. Writer and teacher
Debra Doyle, who contributed so much to last year's programming, returns with her husband, James
Macdonald.
Winner of the 2005 John W. Campbell Award for best new writer, Elizabeth Bear's "Jenny Casey"
trilogy was published in 2005 and won the 2006 LOCUS award for First Novel.
I-CON has been fortunate to have some truly loyal and talented "regulars"- those confirmed to date are
David Kyle, Barry Malzberg and historian/photographer John L. Coker III.
As you can see, we will be offering diverse, lively programming throughout the weekend. Stimulating panels, intimate
readings and lots of autograph sessions offer many opportunities to interact with some of your favorite writers. We will
also be hosting the third annual Callahan's Crosstime Saloon (used with permission), a Meet-the-Pros gathering
in the hotel on Friday night. Don't miss this chance to chat with some of our guests in a relaxed atmosphere.
We'll be confirming many more writers to challenge, entertain and inspire you-keep an eye on the website! Email your
requests to

The Authors track is pleased to announce this year's recipient of The Moskowitz Award is comics legend Murphy Anderson. The Samuel Moskowitz Award is given "For Significant Achievement or Contributions to Genre Fandom".
Jeff VanderMeer's A Rough Guide to Ambergris
Writing on the border between fantasy and the surreal, World Fantasy Award winner Jeff VanderMeer is best known for his
fiction set in the imaginary city of Ambergris, as documented in City of Saints & Madmen and Shriek: An Afterword.
Part reading, part art exhibit, part exploration of the imagination, Rough Guide to Ambergris provides a
provocative tour of a city that mirrors our own great metropolises. It includes art by a variety of well-known artists, as
well as music by legendary rock band The Church and experimental Pittsburgh musician Robert Devereux. Funny, frightening,
and fascinating, "A Rough Guide to Ambergris" has been featured at the Walker Arts Center in Minneapolis, the Brisbane
Writers Festival in Australia, and various other venues in the United States and England.
