Anime Cosplay Competition

Rules and Terms:

  1. You must be registered for I-CON 27
  2. Anyone under the age of 18 must have written permission from a parent or legal guardian
  3. Registration for the competition will be available online as well as at the door of judging sessions and is required regardlessof which section of the competition you are entering. (Example - if you just want to show off your costume, you still have to register at a judging session)
  4. By registering, you are allowing Icon to use your image for promotional purposes.
  5. All characters must be from a citeable source. If you have questions if your character is eligible, email us at Animelive@iconsf.org.
  6. All participants should bring a visual reference with them for their character. If registering online, a URL or a picture attachment will suffice. If registering during the convention, bringing a picture during the judging session is required.
  7. All participants are required to bring music with them, either on CD or as an MP3, we cannot be sure we will have the tracks that you want played for the Cosplay Contest.
  8. I-CON reserves the right to exclude any submission from presentation, at will, with or without "cause."
  9. Skits cannot be any longer than 2 minutes and groups cannot exceed 8 people
  10. Your costume must be homemade if you are entering the costuming half of the competition.
    1. Costumes made by professionals, bought off E-Bay, or any other place is strictly prohibited.
    2. Pieces of the costume can be bought from different clothing stores and combined to create the full effect are allowed (example -a tennis skirt and a blouse to create a "sailor suit"). However, if you did not create the outfit, you will not be eligible for a craftsmanship award.
    3. You can only submit one outfit per person/group.
  11. You must sign in with the Judges once before the Cosplay Contest, at designated times.
    1. All members of your skit must be present and preferably in costume at the time of signing in.
    2. For those entering in the craftsmanship section, be in costume to see the Judges, and be prepared to answer a few simple questions about your costume.
  12. There will be a short prep meeting before the Cosplay Contest. Come in costume and be ready to go onstage. It will be posted at Sign in.
  13. Have fun with it, and also - good luck and happy sewing/happy skit writing. We look forward to every submission.
