Authentic Shaolin Kung Fu Studios

Website: http://www.shaolinlohan.com

The history of the Shaolin Temples and their fighting monks has been a long and exciting tradition. Through the ages, the Shaolin Temple has not ceased to be a serious training ground and a place of meditation. The Shaolin Kung Fu Studios has continued that tradition, passing on the teachings of Damo, creating skilled martial artists who dedicate their lives to the art of Shaolin Chuan.

The Shaolin Kung Fu Studios is located in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, training students in the same time honored tradition that made the Shaolin Monks famous. They teach both practical as well as self defense applications.

Website: http://www.sca.org

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a not-for-profit educational organization that focuses on the study of pre-seventeenth century cultures. Although the SCA concentrated most of its studies in Medieval and Renaissance Europe in the beginning, it has expanded its field of interest to include the cultures of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East over the past 38 years. Through recreation, members of the SCA learn and teach the arts, sciences, and cultures that they have an interest in from the time periods covered.

The Barony of An Dubhaigeainn, the Suffolk County, New York chapter of the SCA, will be providing demonstrations and classes on some of the local interests throughout the weekend.

Come and bring history to life in the modern age!

The Majestic Kingdom of Avalon

E-mail: gladiatorsofavalon@webtv.net

The Majestic Kingdom of Avalon is a Medieval-Fantasy group located on Long Island, New York. The Realm's scope of recreation covers the history of pre-17th Century back to Creation, as well as numerous elements from the world of fantasy, including Tolkien, Arthurian, Asgardian, Roman, Shakespearean, and more! It would not be uncommon to clash blades with Strider the Ranger, to dodge the arrows of Robin of Locksley, to learn first hand the ancient ways of Merlin, or to spend an evening feasting with the Knights of the Round Table. In Avalon, one can be practically anyone they wish, for unlike LARP groups (which center around the acquisition of experience in a modular setting) its personal aesthetics (such as garb, makeup, and props) that sets one above the rest.

The Majestic Kingdom of Avalon holds many events each year, as well as fighter practices, Round Table meetings, and RPG Guild, and more! It is at these gatherings that the members of Avalon engage in grand displays of entertainment and revelry including boffer combat in woods battles, field skirmishes, bridge charges, maze gauntlets, gladiatorial clashes, Noble Pas de Arms on the King's List, as well as the participation and appreciation of the bardic talents, period arts and sciences, royal courts, sumptuous banquets, challenging games and competitions, chivalric vigils and ceremonies, and all other forms of revelry that makes the Age of Historic Past and the Legends of Fantasy so wonderful to recreate!

Come join the Majestic Kingdom of Avalon and escape to a world only thought possible in the Realm of Dreams!

Fantasy and Legends Organization

Website: http://www.courtofthefey.com/courtofthefey/library/falo/index.shtml

Fantasy and Legends Organization (FALO) is a unique, live role-playing group based on contemporary fantasy and historical myth. Unlike many similar role playing organizations, their focus is to create a fantasy setting in which their members can develop a permanent character that is imbued with their ideals and dreams. Members keep their characters for life. Those among the organization include elves, dwarves, faeries, and other fey folk. They draw wizards, warriors, bards, clerics, and the like. They do not welcome beings from the dark side of fantasy and mythology. Their characters come together at gatherings to share in each otherŐs company through song, dance, feasting, story telling, quest planning and resolution, and arms practice. All interaction takes place in character while, for a brief time, the outside world is left behind and they enter the realm of the imagination. From time to time, unexpected visitors drop in with challenges for them to resolve. It is during these moments that all they have striven to become is put to the test. They also relate their adventures and share information through FALOŐs quarterly publication, the Daoine Sidhe.
