Despite his habits of wearing Hawaiian shirts, listening to Irish music and eating spicy Japanese food, John Peel is 100% English. His youth was seriously misspent reading and watching TV westerns and science fiction. As a result, his choice of career was simple: cowboy, astronaut or writer. When he realized he was allergic to horses and scared of heights, his ultimate choice was simple. It took him a mere twenty years to sell his first book, but since that volume he's sold more than 100 others.

He has written novels for adults and young adults in science fiction, fantasy, mystery, horror and historical fields. These include novels based upon "Star Trek", "Doctor Who" and "The Avengers". His "Diadem" series for young adults is now up to book 10.
