The Science and Technology Track looks forward to 2006 as we look back. What are the Science Facts of Time Travel? What other science fiction has been brought to reality?

What has evolved since ICON was founded?
Were you born?
What were computers like?
What were video, card, or board games like?

If you have attended I-CONs past as convention staff or as a guest, please do let us know which ones! Travel back in your scrapbook for the best panels, coolest ideas, springboards we may have helped you with.

Our 2nd Annual Mad Science Fair is accepting project applications on (or off, if it's cool) the theme of Time Travel. See the rules here. The Mad Science Fair has been cancelled this year. We appologize for the inconvencience.

Tentative guests include:

  • Astronomers - How better to gaze back in time than peer to the oldest, outermost edges of the Universe?
  • Astrophysicists - What do Strings have to do with time travel?
  • Space advocates look at the shuttle and the ISS, and new NASA projects.
  • Cryogenics experts freeze and preserve your head (or more) until medicine can cure what ail(ed) you.
  • Faculty from Brookhaven National Lab, SUNY Stony Brook, and others answering questions like:
    • How can people live safely in Space?
    • What is it like inside the sun?
    • Can we engineer bacteria (or other organisms) to make the Earth nicer?
    • Who will genetically tailored mice help?
    • Why do we still rely on gasoline so strongly?
    • When will vast computing power reach its next limit? What can we do next?
  • FIRST LEGO League - test your LEGO skill and make a fully automated futuristic helper robot!
  • Long Island Advanced Rocketry Society brings us their rocket launch - TWICE.
  • We've invited private space ventures LiftPort and Interorbital. On rockets or on tether - where do we go from here?
and many more still to come!

We welcome guest ideas and panel topic ideas from our members and visitors - drop a suggestion to scitech@iconsf.org!

All participants, information, and programming subject to change without notice prior to the convention - though every effort will be made to give you notice!
