Another regular who can enliven I-CON panels, John Kenneth Muir is the author of many books, including the 2004 releases The Unseen Force: The Films of Sam Raimi (Applause) and McFarland's The Encyclopedia of Superheroes on Film and Television. His other titles include the highly successful An Askew View: The Films of Kevin Smith (2002), a companion to the cinema of the Gen X director, and Horror Films of the 1970s (2002), a colossal survey of scary movies in the disco decade. The latter was selected a Booklist Editor's Choice and an ALA 'best of the best' reference source in 2003.
John's first novel, the officially licensed continuation of the cult 1970s series 'Space: 1999,' entitled The Forsaken (Powsy Media), was published in 2003, and John has also written original short stories for The Official Farscape Magazine. In addition to other film books like The Films of John Carpenter (2000), Terror Television (A Booklist Editor's Choice in 2001), and Wes Craven: The Art of Horror, Mercy in Her Eyes, the Films of Mira Nair and Singing a New Tune (an investigaton into the 'new' movie musical). John has also contributed articles to periodicals including Cinescape, Filmfax, Rerun and Collectors News.
He appeared on television in the year 2000 as an expert on the genre on the short-lived Sci-Fi Channel series, 'Sciography,' and has authored several guides to classic genre TV shows, including An Analytical Guide to TV's One Step Beyond (2001), A Critical History of Dr. Who on TV (1999), An Analytical Guide to TV's Battlestar Galactica (1998), and Exploring Space: 1999 (1997).
