Apr 12, 2006 - Site Downtime - Some of you may have noticed problems with the I-CON site over the past few days. We have been having hardware issues with our server, which have now been resolved. Mar 22, 2006 - New I-CON Community - ICON Science Fiction, Inc. is proud to announce its new project, community.iconsf.org. Designed to encourage community involvement and the open sharing of ideas and information, community.iconsf.org is our new hub for everyone who is interested in Science Fiction, Fact, and Fantasy (and Gaming, Anime, and everything else you might see at I-CON - and likely a whole lot more!). We encourage you all to stop in, take a look, and speak your mind - this site was created to allow you to immerse yourself further in the things that matter to you (and us).

Machinima Contest

Rules and Terms

  1. All submissions must be received by March 20, 2006.
  2. All submissions of original videos must be sent by one of the original author or authors.
  3. All submissions must be longer than one (1) minute in length and must not exceed ten (10) minutes in length without prior consent of I-CON.
  4. All submissions should be encoded with Divx or Xvid however as long as it can be viewed in VLC the submission is valid. Please no QuickTime video formats.
  5. All submissions must be made using a commercial game engine (example : Halo, World of Warcraft, Half Life, etc.).
  6. All submissions will be graded by a panel of judges to be selected at a later date.
  7. All submissions must be in the form of Recorded CDs.
  8. All submission media (the CDs) become property of I-CON.
  9. I-CON reserves the non-exclusive right to duplicate the submission media for the purposes of archives and backups and for internal use.
  10. I-CON reserves the right to retain the submission media, and to present and demonstrate the contents during the I-CON 25 convention and at any time thereafter.
  11. I-CON reserves the right to copy or install the contents of the distribution media to one or more computing systems for the purposes of evaluation and of presentation and demonstration.
  12. I-CON reserves the right to capture screen images from programs submitted, and use these images in publicity material.
  13. All other rights of "ownership", including the right to distribute copies of the videos submitted, remain with the author or authors of the files.
  14. I-CON assumes no responsibility for the inclusion of third-party materials within the submission. Legal responsibility for unauthorized use of copyrighted or trademarked materials within a submission is the sole responsibility of the author or authors of the submission.
  15. I-CON reserves the right to exclude any submission from presentation, At Will, with or without "cause".
  16. I-CON may request permission from the authors to forward copies of the distribution media to commercial software developers or publishers on the behalf of the author or authors. Inclusion of a given submission shall not be contingent on the granting of such permission.

Entries should be submitted by United States Postal Service mail to Amateur Game Programming Showcase, I-CON Science Fiction, PO Box 550, Stony Brook, NY 11790-0550.

March 17: Live, hour-long I-CON 25 Preview Special March 24: Live I-CON 25 Mystery Guest Special March 31: Live, hour-long I-CON 25 Retrospective Destinies airs at 11:30 PM on 90.1 FM, WUSB, Stony Brook, and can be heard online through links at www.wusb.fm.

Feb 2, 2006 - Memorial Fundraiser - A fundraiser in memorial of Johnny Madonia, the son of a long time I-CON staffer, is being held to benefit the Child Life Program at Stony Brook University Hospital which helps to ease the stay of children in the hospital via entertainment and help them adjust to returning to school after leaving the hospital.
