SciTech Programming for TeensNEW for I-CON 24Websites: Teams confirmed to be showing up at I-CON 24: Robots come in more shapes and sizes than even people do! They can (and have) done work in extreme environments on other planets, and at the bottom of the oceans, and inside nuclear reactors. Did you ever root for your favorite Battlebot on TV? High school students and local high technology companies partner up for the FIRST competition, For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, where they develop, build, test, and operate their team's remote controlled robot in games against other high schools, across the nation and around the world. FIRST competitions will be in high gear by the time I-CON rolls around, and we've cleared a path for some of their robots to roll over to the campus for you to check out - you may be inspired to bring your school's own winning robot to I-CON 25! Campus chapters of IEEE and SAE at Stony Brook can also build robots and compete against their peers - students from these teams in the past have been fiercely recruited by some of the most cutting edge companies in America. I-CON would like to encourage these creative and diligent college groups to get involved and stay involved, from the solar powered boat, to the Mini Baja race, to the walking robot competition! We'll keep you posted, perhaps we can watch some of these groups in action in April.
