Mad Science Fair

Update: Entries in the Mad Science Fair are to be set-up between 11am and noon on Saturday in the lobby of Harriman Hall. Awards will be given at 5pm on Saturday. All entries must be broken down by 6pm on Saturday.

We invite all members to submit entries that combine science and imagination. Bring out your mad inventions and odd experiments. Take inspiration from your favorite books, films and shows or just go wild. How about a study of the dietary habits of the leeches of Lake Lachrymose, or a psychoanalysis of the behavior of the Great Old Ones. Perhaps a how-to on building your own dark matter engine, or how to splice triffids with tribbles?

The theme for our first year will be "New Forms of Life." Entries within the theme are encouraged, but we won't exclude your imagination. Have fun. Get your kids involved. Remember there's nothing prohibiting the entry in both the Mad Science Fair and the Masquerade.

Entries Must Be:
- Free Standing
- Set up and broken down by the entrants at the designated times (we do not have storage space)

No:
- Microbial cultures or fungi, live or dead (Use photographs and illustrations instead)
- Live animals, except humans and humanoids (Use photographs and illustrations instead)
- Preserved vertebrate animals, including humans and humanoids, whether whole or their parts Teeth, hair, nails, and histological sections are permissible
- Open or concealed flames, matches, or lighters
- Dangerous chemicals, including caustics and acids
- Highly combustible or volatile solids, fluids, or gases
- Controlled substances
- Radioactive materials
- Operating lasers
- Anything potentially hazardous to the public
- Nudity or sexually explicit material (Do not use photographs and illustrations instead)
- Firearms or anything resembling a firearm (Use photographs and illustrations instead)

I-CON staff and guests are highly encouraged to enter the Mad Science Fair but are not eligible for prizes.
