Richard Biggs Memorial![]() On Saturday, May 22 2004, the world of Science fiction and the Acting community lost one of its brightest Stars. Richard was most known in the sci-fi world for his role as Dr. Stephen Franklin on the highly acclaimed show "Babylon 5", but his acting talent was appreciated across many different genres. His acting skills where exemplary, whether performing in serious roles as a guest star in shows as divergent as "JAG", "ER" and "NYPD Blue," to his lighter side when he was performing in "The Biggs and Carter Experience". Before his death he had been in a recurrent Role on "Strong Medicine" and for those who are fans of the new "Dawn of the Dead" movie, we suggest you check out one of the extras in which Richard played the role of News Anchorman. Richard was also active on the convention circuit and I-CON had the pleasure of having him as a guest. He was always delightful and a treasure to his fans. Besides being an accomplished actor he was also a devoted husband and father, and a friend to many. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and fans alike. At I-CON 24, fans of Richard Biggs will be holding a memorial to honor his life. Additionally, I-CON is planning on holding several panels and several of Mr. Biggs's friends and co-workers will be sharing stories on stage at the convention (time and location to be announced). This is purely on a volunteer basis - it is perfectly acceptable if someone does not wish to speak. During the convention, there has been table space made available for those guests who will be attending I-CON for the memorial. All items listed on biggsandcarter.com will be available, plus other items that have been donated specifically for this event. There will be a memory book of photos, stories, and letters that will be compiled at the tables and then given to the Biggs Family, so if you have anything that you want included please feel free to bring it to the volunteers at the table. More information about where you can find these tables will be available soon. There also will be a number of Ricks friends that will be attending the
convention for the memorial, and will be at the tables mentioned above:
This list will be updated as more information becomes available. This is an event for the fans and friends of Rick Biggs, and your input is welcome. If you have any ideas or if you wish to speak at the event, contact Donna Neuman at Donna@pipetap.com - she is coordinating the event with the I-CON staff to ensure that Rick's fans are made aware of what is happening and when and where it will occur. Donna will also have need of a small number of volunteers - please contact her if you would like to help out. During the week before the convention and at the convention, Donna Neuman will be in New York setting up the event. If you need to contact Donna during that time please call her on her cell at 313-410-3903. Some stories from friends:"One of the fond and amusing memories of Biggs that I have
happens to take place during the weekend we first met. Biggs, two
others, and myself went to a karaoke bar. At first Biggs sung, "If
I only had a hammer", and decided to have my friend and myself
choose his second song. Well, we deliberated and choose a song that
based on his vocal range he'd be good at as well as it was a pretty well
known song. For fun we decided not to tell him the song we picked out,
we even got the people running the karaoke to go along with this as
well. Biggs got up there not having the faintest clue what song he was
expected to perform, and immediately tried to get them to tell him the
song. Once the song started he tried his best to sing it, but at every
pause he apologized profusely. Apparently he didn't know the song at
all, the song being Elvis Presley "Jail house rock". As soon as
he got off the stage he wanted to kill us, but it was absolutely
hysterical. It was a wonderful evening." This event is being run by fans of Richard Biggs.
