Angela Santamaria is an artist of many mediums-
she’s a poet,
a painter, and an artisan who designs nad handcrafts, one of a kind
jewelry pieces. Angela has also dabbled in photography since she
was about 9 years old. She’s also been a writer, since before
she can remember. She’s been writing poetry steadily for the
last 10 yrs. In the recent past, Angela was known to hit up the open
mic scene on L.I. , she frequented venues like union square lounge
and Munchaba lounge. Angela also hosted “the mic-less open
mic”, down at Rockville Centre’s instant karma. For the
last 2 years, she has been exploring an old/new love and painting
on canvas, prior to that, she was painting in her closet. She now
cannot imagine her life without colors and a brush in it. She also
combines her painting with collage and decopage projects. For the
last 5 years, Angela has been creating and developing her jewelry
line “unique pieces”. Her collection includes a wide
variety of styles and designs. Her designs range from children, to
teen-agers, men and women of all ages. Angela’s motto is, “I
don’t make the same piece twice”. Angela’s “unique
pieces” have been featured and sold in stores like the Mystic
Warrior, Instant Karma, and Hicksville’s Utopia, as well as
some of Long Island’s craft fairs. For the last 2 years, Angela
has done a consistent amount of custom work for many different, lovely
people. However, custom work is currently unavailable. Angela is
very busy right now because “unique pieces” is currently
expanding to include her original paintings and photo’s, as
well as prints of them. Angela’s poetries will also be available
for curious viewers. With the help of IO web design, she is currently
working on realizing her vision for the website. To view a working
catalogue of “unique pieces”, or to contact Angela
visit, www.unique pieces.net. Angela will be happy to answer any
questions
you might have. Many of Angela’s “unique pieces” are inspired by life, nature,
and the rich diversity of its various cultures. She’s always had a fascination
with ancient civilizations, folklore, myth, and the dreamworld. Angela works
with what she calls “imprints” that she has of different times
and places and interprets accordingly. These proclivities of hers have led
her to
this particular art showing, in the realm of fantasy, from gemstone to fairy,
her imagination runs wild.
Angela believes that all people are truly unique and should cultivate
their loveliest freak aspects, and just be who they truly are.
Hence her other motto, “love
the freak”. And she says she hopes to decorate every last one………
