PHOEBE GLOECKNER
Phoebe started working as a medical illustrator in 1988; in that capacity she illustrated J.G. Ballard’s (author of Crash & Empire of the Sun) controversial novel, The Atrocity Exhibition. She parlayed her medical illustration career into the world of alternative comics, and 1998 brought her critically acclaimed collection of her comics, paintings and etchings, A Child’s Life and Other Stories, with an introduction by R. Crumb. Her illustrated novel, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, was released in November 2002. At the 2000 International ComicCon in San Diego, she was presented with the Inkpot award for outstanding achievement in the comic arts.
