Hear ye, hear ye!
Medieval programming is pleased to announce the arrival of a new Long Island based group, the Kingdom of DragonWynde. They are sure to tickle everyone’s fancy with their combination of history and fantasy.
The Majestic Kingdom of Avalon is making their second appearance at I-CON this year. Their blend of Medieval Europe and the Roman Empire will give spectators a light-hearted view of historical times.
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is back this year! The Barony of An Dubhaigeainn (the SCA chapter of Suffolk County, Long Island) is making an appearance, holding a tournament for their knights at our humble convention, as well as various workshops to entertain as well as educate.
If you have suggestions and/or comments or would like to help please contact us at medieval@iconsf.org.

The Barony of An Dubhaigeainn is a part of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. (SCA), a not-for-profit educational organization which studies the Middle Ages by recreating the pastimes and crafts of the period. International in scope, our activities include tournaments, festivals, classes, feasts, and all manner of arts and sciences you would find in the culture of pre-1600s western Europe.
The SCA is participatory. There are no spectators, and every person plays a part in the creating the atmosphere. For some, this means making an attempt at the proper clothing (we'll help you get started). For others, it means learning calligraphy, fencing, dancing, or whatever activities pique your interest.
We hold "events" (what we call our gatherings) nearly every weekend. Some feature tournaments and feasts, while others specialize in learning more about particular crafts. The summer months often feature full weekends of activities concentrated around a camping event, often ending with bardic revelry.
The Barony of An Dubhaigeann is based in Suffolk County, New York.
The Kingdom of DragonWynde is different than many other Medieval Societies. Where some fashion themselves as "living histories", in DragonWynde they prefer to think of themselves as a "living fantasy". They are a relatively new group, but their chests burst with hearts overflowing in faith and good fellowship. When scheduled, their events can feature any number of activities in the medieval theme. They run light boffer weapon tournaments (LARP rules, though we are NOT a LARP group), hold feasts, royal courts, games, auctions, lessons in sewing garb, and various other arts and crafts. At a DragonWynde event, it is their goal to have as broad a range of diversity as they can provide.
The Majestic Kingdom of Avalon
One who seeks to find a realm that scorches the many worlds of fantasy with flames of honor, accomplishment, and sheer presence need look no further. The majestic Kingdom of Avalon is indeed that realm. We of the majestic kingdom of Avalon acknowledge the dream of its forefathers and the true spirit that binds land and legend with heart and soul. Our ever growing might proudly displays truth to the belief that this realm will forever be. For as long as our banner waves, we shall reign triumphant. For this resolve we have taken charge to revive that which are the standards of greatness in the course of history and the legends of fantasy: Rome, Camelot, Asgard, Middle Earth, amongst others. Forever, we will endure, for as long as we shall exist and thrive, the dream and spirit shall forever remain.
