Awards and Honors
The Gallun AwardIn 1985, the Science Fiction Forum presented Raymond Z. Gallun an award at I-CON IV "for a lifetime of achievement in the genre of science fiction." In 1987, the award was renamed the Gallun Award in his honor. It is presented every year jointly by the Science Fiction Forum and I-CON for "outstanding contributions in the genre of science fiction." Past recipients have included:
The Moskowitz AwardThe Moskowitz is given in honor of Sam Moskowitz for significant achievement or contributions to SF/Fantasy/Horror fandom. Previous Winners Include:
The ICONosphere AwardThe ICONosphere is an award given in recognition of Excellence in Behind - the - Scenes work in Science Fiction
The John Pilkington AwardThe John Pilkington Award is given in memory of one of our most dedicated and reliable staff members. If you needed something completed on-time, and in the best interests of the convention, John was the best choice. His enthusiastic energy, and overall love for the convention has been, and always will be sorely missed. The award is given annually to a guest of I-Con who has over the years been a significant part of our convention. The recipient is someone the senior staff feel has been long dedicated to the growth, and reputation of the convention. This year we are proud to give the honor to Harlan Ellison, whose regular visits and tireless energy have made his appearances a favorite of so many of our fans. |
